Medical acoustic technology is a unique tool in the field of biomedical engineering. The Medical Acoustic Research Lab focuses on the application of acoustic technology to enhance the design, manufacture, and evaluation of orthopedic prosthetic devices. The mission of the MAR Lab is to develop new acoustic technology, to provide an environment for multi-discipline collaboration, and to provide opportunities for students to participate in various research activities.

The laboratory houses unique resources, including:

  • Nanoindention instrumentation
  • Non-destructive ultrasound
  • Acoustic signature analysis
  • One- and two-dimensional stress-strain testing systems
  • Dynamic finite element analysis software.
